Manage Tree Orders, Inspections, and Investigations

Prev Top Next More

You can maintain and preserve trees in VertiGIS FM Greenspaces using a combination of orders, inspections, and investigations. The three items are similar but vary in their usage and how they are created.

For trees, only inspections can be generated systematically on a routine, ongoing basis. Orders and investigations can only be created manually.

Order, Inspection, and Investigation Overview for Trees

Event

Description

Order

A maintenance order for work to be completed on the tree (for example, cutting branches).

You can only create orders for trees manually in the Orders section on the tree details page. To create an order for a tree, a suitable template must exist in the Maintenance Order catalog.

Inspection

A routine review of the tree's condition that requires the employee who completes it to gather and enter various data regarding the tree's health and safety. Inspections typically occur on recurring bases (for example, annually or every six months) for legal reasons.

All inspections for trees in VertiGIS FM are identical. The Inspection Interval value in the tree's details determines how frequently employees must complete inspections for the trees.

You can also manually create additional inspections as required. To create a manual order, you must select an entry in the Event catalog that describes the reason for the additional order.

Investigation

A review of the tree's condition that is not recurring or part of a legal requirement. For example, you may create an inspection for a tree to determine whether the tree has fungus or is rotting.

You can only create investigations for trees manually in the Inspections section.
