Subgroups refer to groups within groups in the Device and Systems Structure. Subgroups contain types that themselves contain individual devices.

Subgroups are only used in three-level hierarchies. If you do not require a third hierarchical level to manage assets in your system, you can add types directly to groups and omit subgroups from your structure.

To see subgroups in a group, expand the Subgroups section on the group's details page.

Double-click a subgroup in the Subgroups section to navigate to its details page.

Subgroup Details Page

To see a subgroup and its child types, double-click a subgroup in the Subgroups section of its group's details page. The subgroup's details page includes the following details in the Subgroups section.

Asset Identification Key

The identifier for the subgroup, which includes its parent group's identifier and the subgroup's own key. Refer to Asset Identification Keys.

Name

The user-assigned name for the subgroup.
