Additional Properties allow you to add multiple custom fields that accept specified data types as values.

With VertiGIS FM, Additional Properties can be created for any type of data object, such as devices  and components . Users can then input data relevant to the object in the Additional Properties section. With Additional Properties, all custom properties are stored within one section on the device details or component details page.

As an example, you could create a property called Implementation Date for a group, designation, or version and specify that the type of data it accepts is a date. On the details pages for devices within the group, designation, or version, users could then pick a date on a calendar to indicate the date that that individual device was implemented.

Additional Properties can also be used in other VertiGIS FM products that allow for hierarchical asset management.

Create an Additional Property

For devices and components managed with VertiGIS FM Maintenance, you can create an additional property on the group, designation, or version details page in either the Device and Systems Structure or Component Structure.

To Create an Additional Property for Devices or Components

1.Navigate to the details page for the group, designation, or version that contains the devices or components to which you want to make the new property available.

2.Expand the Properties section and click the Add () icon.

3.Fill out the form for the new property.

oYou must enter a name for the new property in the Name text box. The name should describe the data the user will be entering in the field.

oYou must select a data type that specifies the type of data users will enter in the field from the Data Type menu. If you select Date, for example, users will be required to select a date from the calendar when they enter a value for the device or component. In addition to Date, Number, Name, or Yes/No, you can select any set of options from the catalog to be used as a drop-down menu from which the user selects an option.

oYou can fill out the remaining fields as required. You may want to specify the unit for the data type in the Unit box, indicate whether an input for the field is mandatory by selecting the Mandatory Field check box, indicate where in the Additional Properties section the property should display by entering a number in the Sort Position box, or provide users with other information in the Description text box.

4.Click Save and Close.

You cannot edit an additional property's data type after you have saved it.

The Properties section now contains the additional property.

You can add other properties that are relevant to the devices or components to the form. Each property can have a different data type. All properties will be stored in the Additional Properties section on the device details or component details page.

Because the additional property above was added to the group details page in the Device and Systems Structure, the additional property will be available on the details page for all devices within the group.

Enter Data in an Additional Properties Section

When you've created additional properties, users on the details page for the asset can add data to them.

Values for additional properties are entered by editing editing the details section for the asset or object. There is no edit button in the Additional Properties section.

To Enter Data in an Additional Properties Section

1.Navigate to the details page for a device or component within the group, designation, or version for which you created the additional property.

2.Ensure the Additional Properties section is visible on the device or component details page. You may need to edit the section authorization and change Additional Properties to Visible.

3.Edit the device or component. This is done by clicking the Edit icon () at the top of the device or component details page.

4.Ensure the Additional Properties section is visible on the form to edit the device or component details page. Again, you may need to edit the section authorization for this page and change Additional Properties to Visible.

5.On the edit form, expand Additional Properties.

6.Fill out the additional properties as required. How each field is filled out varies depending on the data type that was selected for each additional property.

7.Click Save and Close.

The inputs are now shown in the Additional Properties section on the device or component details page.
