This topic outlines how to add, edit, and delete functional units in VertiGIS FM.
You can add a functional unit to the database from the Playground Management start page or on the Playground Management search page.
To Add a Functional Unit on the Playground Management Start Page
1.Navigate to the Playground Management start page.
2.Under Operational Procedures, click Functional Unit.

3.Click the Add (
) icon.

4.At minimum, enter or select a Number, Name, Service Level, and Location for the functional unit.
You can select a maintenance district or a green area in the Location menu.
5.Enter additional functional unit details as available. Refer to Functional Unit Details for descriptions of all form fields.
6.Expand the Partial Areas menu to add partial areas to the functional unit, or expand the Inventories menu to add inventory items to the functional unit.

7.Click Save or Save and Close.
To Add a Functional Unit on the Playground Management Search Page
1.Navigate to the Playground Management search page.
2.Under Operational Procedures, click Functional Units.
3.Click the Add (
) icon.

4.At minimum, enter or select a Number, Name, Service Level, and Location for the functional unit.
You can select a maintenance district or a green area in the Location menu.
5.Enter additional functional unit details as available. Refer to Functional Unit Details for descriptions of all form fields.
6.Expand the Partial Areas menu to add partial areas to the functional unit, or expand the Inventories menu to add inventory items to the functional unit.
7.Click Save or Save and Close.

Service Level |
The level of maintenance or monitoring the functional unit requires. Selectable options are saved in the Service Level catalog. Each service level is associated with an amount of time (or interval) in the Type of Maintenance catalog for the entry associated with the area type selected in the Area Type menu. Each option corresponds to a different interval for maintenance orders (for example, annually for Low, every 6 months for Medium, and monthly for High). |
Location |
The green area or maintenance district in which the functional unit is located. When selecting a green area or maintenance district, you must first double-click a maintenance area in which the green area or maintenance district is located. |
X / Longitude |
The longitude (x-axis) coordinate of the functional unit. |
Y / Latitude |
The latitude (y-axis) coordinate of the functional unit. |
Operational Status |
The current state of the functional unit. Selectable options are •Active •Not active •Stored •In rejection •Rejected |
Type |
The functional unit's group or category. Selectable options are saved in the Type catalog. |
Area (used) [m2] |
The area of the functional unit in square meters. VertiGIS FM populates this field with the total m2 of all the partial areas within the functional unit. |
Country |
The country in which the functional unit is located. Selectable options are activated in the Country Management administration. |
Street |
The street on which the functional unit is located. |
House Number |
The address number of the functional unit. |
Zip Code |
The functional unit's Zip or postal code. |
City |
The city in which the functional unit. |
District |
The district, state, or province in which the functional unit is located. |
Operation by |
The date as of which the functional unit is operational. |
Operational until |
The date until which the functional unit will be operational |
After you have saved a new functional unit, you can enter its Playground Details when you edit it.

As an alternative to manually creating functional units, you can import them using an Excel file or by integrating your VertiGIS FM instance with a VertiGIS Studio web map that contains functional unit data.

You can contact support for assistance importing functional units or other internal facilities management data into VertiGIS FM.
You can edit the core properties of any existing functional units in the database on the Playground Management start page or search page.
To Edit a Functional Unit
1.Do either of the following:
▪on the Playground Management start page, under Operational Procedures, click Functional Units.
▪on the Playground Management search page, under Objects, click Functional Unit.
2.Select the functional unit you want to edit and click the Edit (
) icon.

3.Edit the functional unit's details as required.
4.Click Save or Save and Close.
If a functional unit has no active inspection or order intervals, you can delete it from the database.
To Delete a Functional Unit
1.Do either of the following:
▪on the Playground Management start page, under Operational Procedures, click Functional Units.

▪on the Playground Management search page, under Objects, click Functional Unit.
2.Select the functional unit you want to edit and click the Delete (
) icon.

3.Click OK.
