Assets managed in VertiGIS FM Greenspaces must be situated with a maintenance area and district. For example, it is mandatory to select a maintenance district when you create a new green area from the VertiGIS FM Greenspaces search page.
Districts, which exist within an area, allow you to group assets geographically for maintenance order administration purposes.
Typically, "maintenance area" is applied to an area like a city or municipality. "Maintenance district" can refer to any type of division, official or unofficial, within the area. These concepts can be leveraged differently depending on your country or state.
You can access full lists of maintenance areas and districts that exist in your system by clicking the corresponding links in the Actions section of the VertiGIS FM Greenspaces legacy start page.

Add a Maintenance Area
Areas are high-level grouping nodes that you can add directly to the system. To add a maintenance area, click Maintenance Areas under Actions on the VertiGIS FM Greenspaces legacy start page, and then click the Add (
) icon.

To add the new area, simply type its name in the Name box and click Save.

VertiGIS FM assigns the area a number based on the Maintenance Area Number configuration saved in the Number Ranges administration page.

Add Districts to a Maintenance Area
You can add a maintenance area to any maintenance district that already exists in your system. To add a maintenance district to a maintenance area, double-click a maintenance area on the Maintenance Areas page, and then click the Add () icon in in the Maintenance Districts section.

Enter a name for the maintenance district in the Name text box and then click Save and Close.

The maintenance district is now established within the selected maintenance area. Based on the configuration on the Number Ranges administration page, VertiGIS FM assigns the district an identifier that corresponds to the district as well as its parent are (in the example below, 002 for the area and 001 for the district).

Double click the entry in the Maintenance Districts section to navigate to the maintenance district's details page.

The Green Areas section lists the green areas located within the municipal district.
Add a Green Area
As an alternative to adding a green area on the VertiGIS FM Greenspaces search page, you can also add it directly on the details page for the maintenance district in which it is located. To add a green area to the district, click the Add () icon in the Green Areas section.

The Documents section lists the documents, including image files, associated with the maintenance district. Refer to Document Management for more information, including instructions on how to upload a document.
