A subnetwork represents a topological part within a layer in which all connected and passable network features are defined by the same subnetwork controller.
Subnets are updated to ensure that attributes, network features and connectivity in a network are current and valid. When updating a subnetwork, errors and inconsistencies in a subnetwork also come to light, for example invalid features, disconnected or inconsistent subnetworks, incorrect numbers of subnetwork controllers or dirty areas that have not yet been validated.
When a subnetwork is updated, information in the table of subnetworks and attributes for features and objects is updated, and a subnet line can be created or updated in the SubnetLine feature class.
Further information on updating subnetworks can be found in the ArcGIS Pro on the Esri website.
Subnetworks
1.Call function
The function can be opened via the toolbar > Validate >Subnetworks. In the left side panel, the Subnetworks tab opens.
2.Select and visualize subnetworks
The view of the subnetworks can be restricted using the following functions:
•Search
•Domains and Tiers
If a filter has been applied to domains and tiers and the view is closed, filtering can be recognized by a green filter symbol behind "Domains and Tiers".
•Dirty subnetworks - Unchecked and faulty subnetworks are displayed
•Subnetworks in current extent
The following tools are available for the subnetwork list:
Synchronize with map |
Synchronize subnetwork visibility in the map with the list. The visibility in the layer tab affects the visibility of the subnetworks on the map! Above all, the linear objects should be set to "not visible" for optimum visualization of the subnetworks on the map. |
|
Group by tiers |
Switch grouping by tier on and off. |
|
Show/hide details |
Additional information such as subnetwork controllers can be shown or hidden. |
3.Update Subnetworks
Whether a subnetwork needs to be updated can be recognized by the status symbol, which is placed after a subnetwork.
Unchecked subnetwork |
Subnet contains edits that have not yet been processed by the update subnet operation. |
|
Validated subnetwork |
A consistent and successfully updated subnetwork. |
|
Dirty subnetwork |
Warning that this subnetwork contains errors. |
The following functions are available via the action menu :
Zoom and focus |
Zoom and focus on this subnetwork. |
|
Validate and update |
Validation of the network topology and updating of the subnetwork. The validation is carried out for all features of the associated domain. |
|
Display attributes |
Display attributes of this subnetwork. |
|
Zoom to |
Zoom to this subnetwork. |
|
Focus |
Focus on this subnetwork. |
|
Spotlight |
Put this subnetwork in the spotlight. |
|
Remove spotlight |
Remove any spotlight. |
4.Show results
If the subnetwork is successfully updated, this is displayed in a message.
In the event of problems during validation and updating, possible sources of error and sample solutions are offered.
5.Fix Errors
As in the Validate topology section, the same functions for troubleshooting a subnetwork are also available here via the action menu :
