The tracing of your network allows you to optimize paths for resources to travel through. It provides a framework that is used to help deliver resources, track the health of a network, and identify deteriorating areas.
Predefined network tracing configurations, which contain the necessary options and parameters, facilitate targeted analysis.
To analyze or trace a network:
1.Go to Validate > Trace.
In the left side panel, the Trace tab opens.
2.Click the plus sign button to set the starting points.
A green tilted square icon is shown on the starting points in the map.
Any number of starting points can be set.
Individual or all starting points can be removed.
3.Click the plus sign button to set barriers.
A red cross icon is shown on the barriers in the map.
Any number of barriers can be set.
Individual or all barriers can be removed.
4.Select a network trace type.
The following network trace configurations are available:
Button |
Network Trace Type |
Description |
---|---|---|
Connected |
Check connectivity of the assets. |
|
Upstream |
Trace upstream to find a path to the feeder/source. |
|
Downstream |
Trace downstream to find out who/what is connected to it. |
|
Isolation |
Isolation Trace to identify the impact of a leak. |
|
Shortest Path |
Find the shortest path between two points on the network. |
|
Subnetwork |
Find all elements participating in a subnetwork. |
By clicking on a network trace type, it is possible to filter the preconfigured trace configurations by this type.
5.Start the network trace by clicking on a trace configuration.
There can be trace configurations provided by the administrator for each network trace type. It is possible to search for trace configurations. They can be sorted alphabetically and a detailed description can be displayed. The result is centered on the map and the associated object information is shown as a table.
For configuration examples of net trace types, see Network Trace.
Alternatively, the mouse pointer can be placed in the Filter field. This automatically sets the first trace configuration to active and marks it with a green frame. The arrow keys can be used to conveniently select other trace configurations above or below and set them active. Press Enter to start network tracing with the selected trace configuration.
Results are highlighted on the map, but only a limited number of trace result features (1000 per feature class) is loaded in the result table. When the number of results exceeds a thousand, a notification is shown listing all the layers with limited results. The limit for the maximum number of loaded results can be configured in the App's JSON.
For a space-saving view, the compact view can be selected in the "status bar" section.
