Introduction

VertiGIS FM Buildings allows you to manage buildings and related assets in a structured, hierarchical manner. This includes the management of real estates on which buildings are located, as well as the management of floors, construction stages, rooms, building constructions (ceilings, roofs, walls, façades), doors, gates, and windows within a building.

Buildings Hierarchy

Assets in VertiGIS FM Buildings must be structured in a hierarchy. Structures can vary based on the characteristics of your buildings but generally follow one of the hierarchies shown in the diagram below.

Possible Hierarchies in VertiGIS FM Buildings

All buildings must have a parent real estate that indicates the land on which the building is located. Buildings may contain construction stages, which is an area of a building differentiated from the rest of the building by the historical time of its construction, such as a wing. A floor can be layered beneath a construction stage and can contain rooms. Floors and rooms can be created directly beneath a building, but only one type of building asset can be directly beneath any one building. For example, you cannot add a construction stage and a floor directly beneath the same building.

Buildings Management

VertiGIS FM Buildings allows you to store and manage myriad properties, including categories, locations, materials, usage, surface areas, volumes, and more, for buildings and related assets.

Assets in VertiGIS FM Buildings are managed using tools found throughout other VertiGIS FM products, including maintenance strategies and intervals, orders, defects, and responsibilities. You can also replicate your buildings data programmatically by importing floor plan drawings that contain floor and room data into VertiGIS FM.
