In VertiGIS FM Maintenance, a measure is an association with a unit of measurement that, when applied to a group, allows users to record measurements in the the specified unit of measurement for devices or assets in the group. Measures are paired with threshold values to generate orders for maintenance strategies with measurement-based intervals.

Measures are created globally and applied to a group. Measures applied to a group can be selected when you create a measurement-based interval for a version within the group.

Create a Measure

You can create measures either of two ways on the Meters and Measures page, which is accessed by clicking the corresponding icon in the Operational Procedures section of the VertiGIS FM Maintenance start page. Measures created this way can then be assigned to any groups in the Device and Systems Structure.

To Create a Measure

1.Navigate to the VertiGIS FM Maintenance start page.

2.Under Operational Procedures, click the Meters and Measures icon.

3.Click the Add () icon in the Measures section.

4.In the Unit text box, enter the unit for this measure. This should match the value used in the interval for the maintenance strategy.

5.Enter the Entry precision and Readings precision for the measure.

6.Select the Required measure for measurement check box if the measure is being used as part of an measurement-based maintenance strategy interval.

Select the Negative allowed check box if the measure should be able to record negative values.

7.Click Save and Close.

The Measures section now lists the measure you just added.

Apply Measure to a Group

You can apply an existing measure to a group in the Device and Systems Structure from the Meters and Measures page.

To Apply a Measure to a Group

1.In the Measures section, double-click a measure.

2.In the Groups section, click the Additional Editing () icon.

3.Under Groups, click the Add () icon.

4.Select the group to which you want to apply the measure and click Apply.

5.Click the Add () icon to add the measure to another group. You can add the measure to as many groups as necessary.

6.Click Save and Close.

When you add an interval to a maintenance strategy that was created in the group and select Measurement-based from the Type drop-down menu, the measures you have applied to the group are selectable from the Measure drop-down menu.
