Networks Simulator is a planning tool for the ArcGIS Utility Network. You use it to create network construction plans, estimate costs, compare planning alternatives, and generate materials reports before you finalize a design.
You can create multiple planning variants, simulate their effects on the network, and compare their cost and material requirements.
•Project Managers: Compare project variants and track cost and material requirements from initial planning through to execution.
•Engineers: Check whether a proposed design is technically viable before it moves to construction.
•Designers/Planners: Turn a rough sketch of a change into a detailed, executable plan.
Start with a rough sketch of a proposed network change and refine it into a detailed plan. You can use the same capture and editing tools throughout the planning process, so you do not need to recreate the plan as you refine it.
Create multiple planning scenarios for the same network change and simulate each scenario against the network. You can compare technical effects, cost estimates, and material requirements before selecting a planning option.
Calculate the downstream effects of a planned network change based on the existing network data. You can evaluate how a planning scenario affects the connected network before you apply the change.
Generate a bill of materials and cost report for each planning scenario. You can compare cost estimates, material requirements, and technical effects before selecting a planning option. You can link materials to an external ERP system to align planning data with procurement data.
Use preconfigured planning workflows or configure custom workflows to match your organization’s planning processes.
