Assets stand for operating resources in a Utility Network.

Asset Package

An asset package is a file geodatabase that models the schema, properties, associated layers, associated tables, and data of a utility network.

Attribute data

Attribute data, technical data, properties of objects mapped in a Geographic Information System (GIS). Attribute data is data without a specific spatial reference, such as the owner in the case of land or the tree species in the case of forest areas. 

Domain Network

Domain networks are the first architectural piece used to organize the utility network. They allow you to model large, logically separate sections of your system. A utility network can have one or more domain networks. The number of domain networks you use depends on the type of model you're building and the industry you manage.

Feature Layer

A feature layer is a grouping of similar geographic features, for example, buildings, parcels, cities, roads, and earthquake epicenters. Features can be points, lines, or polygons (areas). Feature layers are most appropriate for visualizing data on top of basemaps.

Pane (ArcGIS Pro)

A pane is an anchorable window in which the contents of a view (pane Content), the content of a project or portal (area Catalog), or commands and settings related to a functionality area (such as the Symbolization and Geoprocessing) are displayed.

Ribbon (ArcGIS Pro)

ArcGIS Pro uses a horizontal ribbon at the top of the application window to display and organize features in a series of tabs. Some of these tabs (central tabs) are always available. Other (contextual tabs) are displayed when the application is in a certain state. For example, various contextual tabs for feature layers are displayed when a feature layer is selected in the Content area.

Subnetwork

A subnetwork represents a topological subset in a tier where all participating features have traversability to the same subnetwork controllers. A subset is a collection of connected lines, devices, and junctions.

Subnetwork Controllers

Subnet controllers define the origin of a subnet. They are used in the context of subnetwork management and define how a resource flows through a network. Subnet controllers are set at the connection point level for features from the Device Feature Class and JunctionObject table. A component or node object can have multiple connection points defined as subnet controllers.

Symbols

Symbols are used to graphically describe, categorize, or score geographic features and labels to search for them and indicate qualitative and quantitative relationships. They represent graphical elements in a layout. You can include symbols in collections that are defined as styles to store, manage, and share symbols.

Tier

Each network domain can optionally be divided into groupings that define the scope of the subnetworks. For example, an electricity distribution network has levels (tiers) for high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage. Within each tier, subnetworks can be defined with sources specific to each level.

Unknown

The designation Unknown is present in various places in the definition of the Utility Network and is system-dependent. The entry Unknown cannot be removed and has the value 0 in the database.

Views are windows for working with Maps, Scenes, Tables, Layouts, Diagrams, Reports and other representations of data. A project can have many views that can be opened and closed as needed. Several views can be open at the same time, but only one of them is active. The active view affects which tabs are displayed on the ribbon and which items are displayed in panes, such as the Contents pane.
