Storage
Water is usually stored at high altitude in reservoirs and, in addition to supplying drinking water, also serves as fire-fighting protection (firewater). These include elevated tanks and water towers. In addition, there are pressure boosting systems with pressure vessels.
Water reservoirs are also operated in extensive networks or large differences in altitude in a network of different interconnected pressure zones. They can also contain pump stations or serve to reduce pressure.
