Introduction

The use of the field Status is a challenging task, because the status can be anything. A lot of information was stored here in the past.

Few higher-level phases in the lifecycle of an object are relevant for the network. These usually start with planning, move on to construction and then to operation. In the past, the decommissioning phase was often neglected and is now also systematically maintained.

The lifecycle theme was split into two attributes because this is central to network formation. Information about switching states, ownership, etc. is mapped in independent fields or via functionalities.

LifeCycle Network

A simplified lifecycle form is used for the network. This is broken down into the four main phases used in all customer implementations for network formation and plan information. The definition for the NET_MainLifeCycleStatus contains the following values:

<coded_value code="0" description="Unknown"/>

<coded_value code="1" description="Planning"/>

<coded_value code="2" description="Construction"/>

<coded_value code="4" description="Service"/>

<coded_value code="8" description="Decommissioned"/>

0 – Unknown
Should not be used, but is listed for completeness.

1 - Planning
Objects that are to be newly built.

2 - Construction
Objects that have been built but not yet handed over to the service.

4 - Service
Objects that are maintained.

8 - Decommissioned
Objects that are disconnected from the network and are no longer used for operations. These items have been depreciated or removed from the fixed asset accounts.

For network creation only elements are used that have the value of Operation. For more information on the subnet definitions, see the corresponding Solutions. For queries, network tracing all other values or other fields and information can be used.

Various planning approaches influence the lifecycle theme. In addition to plant construction, line construction and country-specific standards and recommendations, there is a large amount of terminology. All terms and common models can be assigned to one main lifecycle. The following table shows and assigns the three most important models in Europe.
