Quality of the resource (e.g. H/L gas) |
The different gas types L-gas (low calorific gas) and H-gas (high calorific gas) are differentiated according to quality. This involves a higher proportion (approx. 95%) of methane which releases a higher calorific value during combustion. This leads to a calorific value of approx. 11.1 kWh/m3 compared to approx. 8.3 kWh/m3 for L-gas. This field can also be used for further distinctions of the gas quality (e.g. hydrogen).
Currently, the conversion to H-gas is planned in Germany by 2030 (see FNB Gas).
