Basic Workflow Example

This section provides a generic workflow using Networks Locator.

Scenario:

A locator has been assigned a locate request in Networks Locator.

Instructions:

1.Select the Networks Locator menu to view the Locates Grid.

2.Click the Filter tab, set the Status to Open, and set Assignee to VertiGIS (for this example).

3.Click OK and the filter adjusts the Locates Grid.

4.Left-click the locate request. This zooms to the locate, shows the overlay on the map, and opens the Summary window.

5.If any discrepancies are found or additional notes need to be added while working the locate, add a comment.

Complete information on the location request can be found by clicking the Email icon.

6.Select the corresponding response and third-party locator (if applicable) to apply to the locate.

7.This applies values to the locate and populates the Summary window. Depending on the requirements set by the 811 agencies, Networks Locator may send a positive response code back to the 811 agency.

 

8.(optional) If you need to reopen a locate, Networks Locator allows you to reset the response code.

a.To reopen a locate, find it in the Locate Grid by using the Request Number Filter.

b.Click Response and then Reopen.

c.Once the locator completes work, they can choose the new response code.

d.Networks Locator resends positive responses to supported 811 agencies.
