Networks Locator supports sending positive response (PR) to 811 agencies that provide APIs for the purpose of receiving response codes from member systems. Usually, “standard” positive response involves a response code and an optional comment. A positive response is initiated via the Response button on the Summary window.
Some agencies require additional information from the locator before they will accept the response. For example, several states support a response akin to “The Locator and Excavator Agreed to Meet”, and when submitting this response, Networks Locator must provide the date and time of the planned meeting.
SC811 – “Schedule agreed upon”
In cases where information, in addition to the code and comments is required, Networks Locator transitions to the PR Feedback form. You must enter the required information before Networks Locator can submit positive response.
PR Feedback form (optional, depending on agency requirements)
Networks Locator validates your responses to ensure they confirm to the rules outlined by the 811 agency’s documentation before allowing you to submit. An example is shown below depicting the PR Feedback form prompting the user to enter an Agreement Date. Note that the Submit button is greyed out until all validation rules have been met.
