Refer to the list below for definitions of words used throughout VertiGIS FM and the supporting documentation.

B

Device and Systems Structure: The name of the hierarchical structure used to managed devices in VertiGIS FM Maintenance. The structure includes groups, designations, versions, and finally, devices. Refer to Device and Systems Structure.

C

Catalog: A list of entries and opens that a system administrator defines for end users of VertiGIS FM to select from drop-down menus and form fields throughout the application. Often, a catalog corresponds to a specific menu or field. Refer to Catalog.

Component Structure: The name of the hierarchical structure used to managed components in VertiGIS FM Maintenance. The structure includes groups, designations, versions, and finally, devices. Refer to Component Structure.

Details Page: A page that exists for each instance of a data object in VertiGIS FM (e.g., for an asset like a device, component, building, or contract, or for a task like an order, work order, or service desk ticket). It stores the data object's identifying information, properties, documents, and associations to other data objects. A data object's details page is accessed by clicking on it in a list on another VertiGIS FM page.

Device: A device or system managed in VertiGIS FM Maintenance. Examples can include things like laptops, wind turbines, sewage plants, alarm systems, or any other maintenance asset. Refer to Devices.

Flexible property: Custom fields or forms created by a system administrator for end users of VertiGIS FM to capture data based on the organization's needs. You can create data points not hard-coded into the VertiGIS FM database. Refer to Flexible Properties.

M

Module: A tool or system used throughout VertiGIS FM. They are similar to VertiGIS FM products in that they have their own search pages and start pages that can be accessed from the left pane, but no additional license is required to use them. Examples include the Service Desk, Contact Management, and Document Management.

O

Object (or data object): A broad term for an item managed in VertiGIS FM that has its own status and properties. Objects can be created in VertiGIS FM or imported from a third-party source. Examples include assets, such as devices, buildings, and doors, and tasks, such as maintenance orders and service desk tickets. In VertiGIS FM Maintenance, an object is also used to refer to the lowest level of the Component Structure (i.e., individual bits and parts that comprise the component inventory and can be marked as installed on available).

Product: A term used to refer to the seven VertiGIS FM products: VertiGIS FM Buildings, VertiGIS FM Contracts, VertiGIS FM Energy, VertiGIS FM Greenspaces, VertiGIS FM Maintenance, VertiGIS FM Parcel, and VertiGIS FM Streetlights, as well as VertiGIS FM Platform. Access to these products is determined by your license.

S

Service desk: A VertiGIS FM module used to track tickets for issues created by users across various VertiGIS FM products. Refer to Service Desk.
