Data Basis

Prev Top Next More

The Network Simulator requires its own data model to save the planning projects and to identify the feature class relevant for planning.

The Jupyter notebooks (Python scripts *.ipynb) included in the scope of delivery help to set up the data model. The notebooks are already available as a separate element on the Portal for ArcGIS as part of the provision of the solution package.

To run the notebooks, ArcGIS Pro must be started. The first step is to download all notebooks in ArcGIS Pro to the local project. This is done by right-clicking on Download in the Catalog. Afterwards, the notebooks are included in the local project and can be opened by double-clicking on them. The notebooks must then be run from step 1 to step 4 in sequence:

Step 1

In the first step, the two feature classes VU_PLANNING_CONSTR_PHASE and VU_PLANNING are created. It also creates relationship classes between the inventory features to be planned and VU_PLANNING_CONSTR_PHASE and VU_PLANNING.

In the Variables area, the parameters must be adapted to the local infrastructure. More detailed information about the individual parameters is documented directly in the script.

After the parameters have been entered, the script can be executed step by step via Run Cells and Select Below.

The cursor must be on the first line when starting.

If the script is to be executed completely in one run, "Run all" can also be selected.

Step 2

The second step is to integrate the feature classes created in step 1 into a feature service.

This process is done manually and the Python script helps validate the feature service at the end. For validation, the parameters required in the Variables section must be adapted to your own infrastructure.

Step 3

In step 3, the feature layers created in step 2 are added to a web map.

This step is also performed manually and can be checked at the end with the Python script. For validation, the parameters required in the Variables section must be adapted to your own infrastructure.
