Example

A new planning area is to be developed. For a rough planning and cost estimate, it is necessary to define the planning areas, draw in the necessary assets (lines, connecting pieces etc.) and determine the initial material and cost expenditure.

Preparation

The map search function can be used to zoom in on a section of the target area using an address or the plus/minus buttonsor mouse wheel.

Select the Planning Manager tab in the side panel. The Planning Manager window with the heading Plan projects opens.

In the Planning Manager, either a new project is created or an already existing one is selected for further editing from the list of already created projects using the filtering option Find project.

Create a New Project

1.Create a new project in the Planning Manager using the Create Project button.

2.The following note appears Select a location for the feature on the map. The mouse cursor changes to a cross symbol. Zooming with the mouse wheel is still possible.

3.The next step is to draw the planned area with the mouse. At least 3 vertices must be clicked with the mouse to create a closed polygon. Double-click to set the last vertice and automatically close the desired area.
An input mask appears in which the name of the planning area and an associated description can be entered.

To manage your open editing session, use the Save or Discard buttons in the Quick Access toolbar to either save or discard all changes made in the session.

4.Save adds the newly created area to the list of projects.

5.In the following dialog you will be asked whether the new area should be opened for further editing.

a.If this dialog is answered with Yes, a window with the project details opens in which the preconfigured resources can be selected and drawn into the planning area.

b.If the dialog is answered with No, a new project could be added immediately, for example.

6.Once a project has been processed, a Bill of Material can be created as a PDF document. This lists the necessary material and is used, among other things, for cost calculation.

7.In addition, a map printout with the operating assets recorded in the planning area can be output as a PDF. The printout is made on a print template included in the scope of delivery and designed for this purpose.

Release Lock

The Networks Simulator automatically locks a planning project when it is opened by a specific user session. This ensures that only one user can edit a given version at a time, preventing conflicts and maintaining data integrity. To manually release the lock, use the Release Lock option from the action menu.

Releasing the lock will discard any unsaved edits made during the current session.
