A coupling is a connecting piece that allows two pipes to be connected seamlessly. There are various types of couplings, such as push-fit, adhesive, or threaded couplings, and many different shapes of this hollow cylinder.
Cap / blank flange. The cap and the blank flange serve to close a pipe. A cap is placed at the end of a pipe. A blank flange is a plate that is screwed or welded to the end of a pipe. (Source: WAS glossary) In the case of wastewater pipes, this can also simply mean bricked up or otherwise closed.
Pipe points are points where a pipe is broken because there is a change in gradient, material, construction year and/or diameter. This generates a new section. Pipe points are therefore hydraulically relevant. (Source: internal SEW documents)
Blind inlets (inlet / injection / nozzle) are connection points where secondary wastewater lines merge into primary wastewater lines. Blind inlets do not break the line and are therefore not hydraulically relevant. No new line is generated either. Depending on the positioning and shape of the connection point, one speaks of an inlet, an injection or a nozzle. (Source: internal SEW documents)
