Short circuit indicator
An overhead line short-circuit indicator is a sensor and diagnostic device that is mounted directly on high- or medium-voltage overhead lines (power poles and cables). Its main function is to detect faults in the power grid in a flash and to report them visually or digitally. If a short circuit or earth fault occurs (e.g. because a branch falls onto the line or a storm causes the cables to come into contact with each other), this device helps network operators to locate the fault immediately.
