A class is a data structure that represents a specific object type from the real world. This object type usually represents an asset in a supply or disposal network. However, it can also refer to various other, geometric or non-geometric, structures. For example, classes can refer to elements from the cadastral survey (points, parcels) or from the field of transport and logistics (traffic routes, accident sites, etc.)

Classes are uniquely identified using a numeric key. Classes have a display name and a sort order. The display name is localizable and can be adapted to different languages.

Each class refers to the table or feature class in which the objects of this type are stored.

Classes can be switched visible or invisible. Classes that have been configured as invisible are hidden in the menu interface and are therefore hidden from the user.
