A key feature of VertiGIS Network Explorer is the Network Trace tool. Currently, the functionality offers the following options:

User interface for network tracing

Network traces for different domains in a web map

Execution for on one or more utility networks in a web map

Free definition of one or more starting points

Free definition of one or more barriers before and after network trace

Execution of a network trace according to different trace types

VertiGIS Network Explorer supports common utility network trace types: Connected, Upstream, Downstream, Isolation, Shortest Path and Subnetwork.

These trace types can be made arbitrarily complex on a user-specific basis by configuring an administrator and can be made available as a trace configuration. For example, tracing can output only affected house connections or only the closest gate valves in the map window.

Trace types can have one or more trace configurations

The administrator configures the type of tracing to run in ArcGIS Pro using the geoprocessing tool Add Trace Configuration, and then publishes this configuration to the web map. See ArcGIS Pro documentation Add trace configuration.Open documentation in browser.

Trace configurations are based on the principles of the named trace configuration. See ArcGIS Pro documentation Named trace configurations.

Post-processing

It is possible to configure Network Explorer to automatically start post-processing after a successful network trace. For this purpose, an event listener can be configured in the Studio Web Event Service that listens to the tracing.trace-completed event. Each time this event is triggered, any command or operation from the default Studio library or custom commands/operations can be executed. This also enables the execution of a custom Studio workflow after a network trace. For example, a common scenario would be the creation of a report containing the results of a network tracing.
