Infiltration system (infiltration areas/infiltration basins/infiltration shafts/pipe and trench infiltration) as a collection point for all station elements
Infiltration is important so that rainwater can reach the ground. This promotes groundwater recharge and avoids unnecessarily high runoff volumes in the sewer network. To allow rainwater to infiltrate in settlement areas despite increasingly sealed surfaces, structural measures, so-called infiltration systems, are necessary. Infiltration areas can be created, i.e., squares, paths, and parking areas are built to be water-permeable or have lateral, humus-rich areas. Another possibility is indirect infiltration measures such as artificially created hollows or ditches. These are also referred to as infiltration basins/hollows. In addition to these above-ground structures, there are also underground measures. These are direct infiltration systems such as infiltration shafts or pipe and trench infiltration.
