Thrust protection

Thrust protection is a longitudinal force-locking socket connection. Thrust protection absorbs thrust, tensile, and compressive forces that act axially on the pipeline. There are external and internal versions of push-fit sockets. They are usually found with the fittings at the manufacturers.

Only used in water and gas.

Roof mount

Small masts are mounted on roofs to serve as overhead line masts. In addition to house connections via the roof mount, these can also be used for further networking.

Console

These were formerly used on transformer towers (DE) as well as on the facades of residential buildings and commercial enterprises.

Wall penetration / wall duct

Used for laying pipes inside buildings. It has both a supporting and a hanging effect. Various manufacturers also allow multiple media in the same wall duct (see image below).

Not usually included in the DACH area.

Fixed point / bearing point / fixed point

In district heating, the bearing points are relevant for calculating expansion in connection with thermal influences.

A fixed point is a point on the pipeline where no movement is possible due to thermal expansion. A natural fixed point occurs where the frictional forces of the ground prevent the pipe from moving. However, a fixed point can also be created by installing a fixed bearing. Various types of bearings are used:

Guide bearings only allow movement in defined directions.

Fixed bearings fix the pipeline in all directions.

Sliding bearings serve to absorb the weight and frictional forces.

Suspension (top of image)

Anchor point for suspended cables (see bracket).

These are not usually recorded in the DACH region. In individual cases, these elements are recorded in the area of bridges.

Bracket (bottom of image)

Used to guide pipes within structures. These are the two elements that secure the pipe in place. They provide both support and suspension.
